Eleanore G. (Thornton) "Ellie" Battaglia

Eleanor G. (Thornton) "Ellie" Battaglia of Medford, formerly of Somerville passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015 at the age 68. Ellie was the daughter of the late George and Ruth Thorton; beloved wife of the late Frank Battaglia; devoted mother of Steven J. Battaglia and Jayms Battaglia; mother in law of Jacqueline Freeman; cherished grandmother of Colin and Austin James (AJ) Freeman; loving friend of Carol Blunden, Jan Costello and the late Carol Thorton. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Ellie was a member of the Red Hat Society; was auntie to many who surrounded her; and was cherished by many friends, neighbors and grand doggie, Casper.

Friends and family are warmly invited to gather with the family at the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St., (RT 28), STONEHAM, Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 2-5pm with a brief prayer and blessing at 5pm.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Ellie by making donations in her memory to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court Street, Boston MA.
