Elena T. (Alvino) Tontodonato

Elena T. (Alvino) Tontodonato, 101, beloved wife of the late Edward Tontodonato, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Revere, on December 15, 1918, she is the daughter of the late Alfonso and Mary (Scotti) Alvino.

Elena grew up in Revere and was a graduate of Revere High School. She then attended a French owned design school in Boston. Elena and her sister Diana joined the United States Army Air Corps in 1942. She proudly served her country and was stationed in Georgia for three years.

Elena loved the fashion industry. She designed all kinds of clothing. One of her favorite activities to do was to go to Filenes Basement and purchase clothing, only to bring them home and redesign everything to make new outfits. Elena was always stylishly dressed. She was also a fabulous dancer, having won many Jitter Bug Contests.

After the unexpected passing of her first husband Louis Dioguardi, she met and married her husband Eddie Tontodonato, with whom she was married for 60 years. They moved from their Park Ave home in Revere to their home in Stoneham where they stayed.

Elena's greatest joy came from her family; especially the bond she shared with her siblings. She enjoyed many wonderful times with her nieces and nephews and had a special relationship with her great nieces and nephews. Elena had fond memories with Marc, Lauren and Steven. In her later years, Elena would look forward to nightly conversations with her sisters.

She will be truly missed by her loving family.

Elena is the loving sister of Gloria Alvino, Marie Fitzgibbon and the late Diana Campagna and the late Joseph Alvino. She is the cherished aunt and great aunt to many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (Rt. 28) Stoneham, on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 9am, followed by a funeral mass celebrating Elena's Eternal Life at St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10am.

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Elena's Family in the funeral home on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 3 to 7pm.

Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
