Elizabeth 'Betty' (Barker) Vicari

Stoneham - Mrs. Elizabeth (Barker) Vicari, of North Providence, Rhode Island, formerly of Stoneham died Wednesday, April 15, 2020 in Our Lady of Fatima Hospital as a result of the Covid-19 Virus. She was 94.

Elizabeth or 'Betty' as she was lovingly known was born on April 3, 1926 in Boston a daughter of the late Wallace and Eleanor (Locke) Barker. Raised in Medford she graduated from Medford High School. A Stoneham resident since 1963 she was a member of Saint Patrick's Church where she was a faithful communicant. She moved to North Providence in April of 2019 to be closer to her daughter and family.

She worked for many years in the insurance industry beginning after high school graduation until her retirement from Northwest Insurance Agency in Lexington in 2004.

Betty loved people and loved spending time with her many good friends and neighbors, and with her family. She also enjoyed reading and the theater.

Elizabeth leaves her daughter, Claire Swift and her husband, Gregory and her granddaughter, Olivia Swift; her niece, Marylou Gamlin and her husband, James, nephews, Jack Canty and his wife, Michelle, and Richard Canty and his wife, Joan and many great nieces & nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister Mary Lou Canty and her late husband, Francis, and by her former husband, Michael J. Vicari.

Her family will gather privately in Tewksbury Cemetery in Tewksbury. A Memorial Mass at Saint Patrick's Church in Stoneham celebrating her life will be announced.
