Ellen (Carter) Redfern

Ellen (Carter) Redfern, of Atkinson, NH, formerly of Reading, passed away on October 16, 2015 at age 74. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

Ellen was very passionate about quilting. She belonged to various quilting groups in and between Reading and New Hampshire. She had a great love for the beach and her extended family at Lauderdale –By-The-Sea but she mostly loved spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Ellen is the beloved wife of Leonard Redfern for 52 years. She is the devoted mother of Linda J. Redfern and Laura J. MacRae and her husband Tom. Ellen is the cherished grandmother of Tom MacRae, Jr., Rebecca Gray and Jeff MacRae. She is the dear sisterof Edward Carter, Edgar Carter and the late John Carter. Ellen is the loving daughter of the late Russell and Florence (Lorgeree) Carter. Later in life Ellen was fortunate to reconnect with her birth father, the late Robert E. Doucette, and her siblings Jane Barber, Robert Doucette, George Doucette, Kevin Doucette, Brian Doucette, John Doucette, Richard Doucette and Patrick Doucette.

Funeral at the Doherty-Barile Funeral Home, 11 Linden Street, READING, Thursday, October 22th at 11:00am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Wednesday, October 21st from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and ramped entrance available. Interment at Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.
