Esther M. (Doucette) Amaru

Esther M. (Doucette) Amaru of Reading, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 14, 2015 at the age of 91. Esther was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.

Esther was born on August 31, 1923 to Edward and Marion (Meuse) Doucette. She was born and raised in the Mudville section of Reading. Esther was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and she could often be found at the Reading Senior Center serving food and providing companionship to others.

Esther was the beloved wife of the late Stephen Amaru. She was the devoted mother of Steve Amaru and his late wife AnnMarie (Gomez), Walter Amaru and Mary Ann Amaru and her husband John Kasper. Esther was the cherished grandmother of Kara Amaru, Nathan Kasper and Devon Rose Kasper and the great-grandmother of Stevie Amaru. She was the dear sister of Anne O'Brien, Peter Doucette and the late Rena Arthur, Clifford Doucette, Kenneth Doucette and Walter Doucette. She was the loving godmother of Joyce (DeMasi) Kreimer. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Doherty-Barile Funeral Home 11 Linden Street READING, Friday, July 17th at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Esther's Eternal Life in Saint Agnes Church, 186 Woburn Street, Reading at 10:30am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Thursday, July 16th from 3-7pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and handicapped entrance available. Internment at Forest Glenn Cemetery, Reading.
