Esther R. Surette

January 1, 1905 — January 30, 2005

Esther R. "Grandmere" (d'Entremont) Surette of Reading passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2005 at her home. She had just celebrated her 100th birthday on January 1, 2005.





Born in West Pubnico, Nova Scotia, Esther was the cherished daughter of Stephen and Bertha d'Entremont. Esther was a loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all.





Esther was a devoted member of the Catholic Daughters for 50 years. She was a dedicated homemaker for many years. She loved her family. They were first and foremost in her life.





Esther enjoyed knitting, cooking and baking. She had knitted mittens for 35 years at the church fair. Her famous quote was "The days are getting short, the road is getting rough and rugged, but I still have my sanity and memories."





Esther was the beloved wife of the late John L. Surette. She was the devoted mother of Gerald Surette and his wife Mary, James Surette and his wife Nancy, Bertha Rousseau and her husband Edmond, Beatrice Boucher and her husband Richard, Helen LeFavour and her husband Thomas. Esther was the cherished grandmother of 12 and great grandmother of 17. She was the dear sister of Isaire d'Entremont of Nova Scotia.





Funeral from the Joseph Doherty-Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Monday at 8:45am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St. Reading at 10am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours Sunday 1-5pm. Parking attendants will be on duty. Interment Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.
