Eugene A. Moreno, 90, passed away at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, MA on May 4, 2020 after being recently diagnosed with COVID-19 and having fought a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Eugene was born on October 2, 1929 in Medford, MA. He was the beloved son of the late Angelino and Bertha (Griffin) Moreno. He attended Malden public schools and joined the United States Air Force thereafter. In October of 1952, Eugene married Elizabeth Ellen White of Wakefield. They settled there and later moved to Reading. Eugene was a faithful communicant of St. Agnes parish, where he served as a Eucharistic minister for many years. He was a long-time employee of A.W. Chesterton Co. and was the Assistant Plant Manager at the time of his retirement.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth ("Betty") with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. He leaves behind fifteen nieces and nephews, Patricia Ryser and husband Thomas, Paul DiPietro, Anthony Cataldo and wife Clair, Paula Manning and husband Daniel, Susan St. Pierre and husband Roger, Cynthia Cipollo and husband James, Michael White and wife Pamela, Jane Darveau and husband Richard, as well as sister-in-law Barbara White, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Eugene was predeceased by his siblings Mary D'Amico, Anthony Moreno, Dorothy Cataldo, Loretta DiPietro, and Angelo Moreno.
Due to the current social challenges, burial will be private. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date.
