Eugene T. Sullivan, Jr. passed on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at age 68, at his home with his family at his side.
He was born on July 27, 1941 in Medford, Massachusetts. He was raised in Woburn and graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in the North End. He went on to Northeastern University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He became a Registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. His professional career began at West End Iron Works in Cambridge, ultimately achieving the position of Chief Engineer of the largest structural steel fabricating plants on the east coast. Upon leaving West End Iron Works in 1981, he formed his own Consulting Engineering Firm, Eugene T. Sullivan, Inc. He designed and constructed buildings in Massachusetts primarily and throughout New England.
Eugene was the beloved husband of Diane Sullivan. He was the devoted father of Eugene T. Sullivan, III and his wife Pamela of North Andover, Kim M. Reddy and her husband John of Londonderry, NH, James E. Sullivan and his fiance Elizabeth G. Kelley of Lexington, Kathleen P. Sarver and her fiance Paul J. Glejzer of Burlington, Debora L. Greenblatt and her husband Joshua of Georgetown, and Danielle L. Sullivan of Watertown. Eugene is also survived by his step daughter Carolyn Donahue and her husband Michael and their children Joshua D., James R. and Jacquelyn M. Longuemare. He was the cherished grandfather of Mikayla M., Cameron M. and Shane P. Reddy, Jessica L. and Jake H. Sarver, Peyton T. and Noah P. Sullivan, Jonah A. and Kathryn E. Greenblatt and Jack W. Sullivan. He was the beloved son of the late Eugene T. and Lillian M. Sullivan of Woburn, and brother of Anne M. Donahoe of North Reading, Mary M. Dall and her husband Robert of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Maureen Gillis and her husband Edward of Miami, FL, Sheila Peary and her husband Fred of Woburn, the late Gerard J. Sullivan and his wife Martha of Stow and Eileen Hoodlett and her husband Joseph of Wakefield, NH. Eugene is also survived by his former wife Jane K. Terruso of Hudson, NH and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services in remembrance of his life will be held at the Doherty-Barile Funeral Home, 11 Linden St., READING on Thursday from 4-8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex St., Wilmington on Friday at 10:00 a.m.
