Evano L. Cunha

December 24, 1929 — June 27, 2016

Evano L. Cunha went to his heavenly home on 6/27/2016 surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Rhode Island on 12/24/1929 to Bernardino and Katherine "Carrie" Cunha.

He leaves his devoted wife of 60 years Barbara A. (Santosuosso) Cunha, and his loving children Judeth (Judey), Joyce, and Glenn Cunha, Glenn's spouse Edward H. Hudner, and his beloved grandsons Scott and Edward (Teddy) Cunha. He raised his family in Somerville and spent summers at Seagull Beach in W. Yarmouth. In retirement, Evano and Barbara lived at Southport in Mashpee then moved to Medford to be near their children and grandchildren. Evano served as a staff sergeant in the Air Force during the Korean War and worked as a research librarian at Hanscom Field for 35 years.

He was a loving uncle to his nieces, nephews and Godchildren especially Deanna and Joseph Parker and their children, the late Denise Sidoti, David Sidoti and his daughters, Daniel Sidoti, and Derek and Jillian Sidoti and their sons. He was predeceased by his siblings Gabriel, Joseph, and Preciosa Cunha, Feliciana Lombard, and Irene Dettore. He leaves their children, his loyal and caring nieces and nephews. Evano's sister-in-law Frances Cunha was a special presence in his family's life.

His hobbies were gardening, books, and spending time with his grandsons. Gathering around his large dining room table with his family was his very favorite activity and holidays were traditional Portuguese and Italian festivities. He will be loved forever by his family and will surely be remembered by his friends particularly from Woonsocket, Mashpee, Somerville, and Medford.
