Filomena "Dolly" Langone passed away on October 13th, 2016 at home. Dolly grew up in Brighton and moved to Stoneham in 1973 with her husband and children. Dolly as a teenager was a mentor for the Boys and Girls Club of Brighton. Dolly graduated Brighton High School and after graduation went to the Wilfard Beauty Acamedy in Boston and opened up the Cover Girl Beauty Shopy in Brighton. She operated the business for many years along with her mother and sister. Dolly met her husband Jim at a dance in Revere and eventually married. She closed the Cover Girl Beauty Shop business to become a full time mother raising two children. Dolly and her husband moved to Stoneham in 1973. She became active in the PTA, Girl Scouts, taught CCD and served food along with her husband to the needy. Dolly in 1977 when her children were teenagers, went back to work as a data input clerk for the IRS in Andover. She went to college to study accounting and earned a Bachelors Degree. She eventually became an Internal Revenue Agent and worked out of the John F. Kennedy Building and eventually the IRS on Montvale Ave. She received manly achievement awards by the IRS for her excellent work. Her duties took her to Washington D.C., Salt Lake City, Memphis and Chicago. Dolly and her husband Jim travelled throughout the country. Their favorite place was Palm Desert in California where they owned a time share. On each trip they would invite a neighbor to share the beauty of Southern California with them. Dolly and Jim were not ones to stay inactive. They made many trips to Aruba, Hawaii, Curacao, and the Bahamas and to the casinos with neighborhood friends. Dolly retired in 2005 and became active in quilting and mad many quilts for her family and friends.
Dolly is the beloved wife of James Langone. Devoted mother of Louis and Lisa Langone. Cherished grandmother of Rachel and Jason Langone. Sister of Milord Maloney and her late husband John. Filomena was the dear daughter of Jerry Steriti and Yolanda (Paolini) Steriti.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Thursday, October 20th at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Filomena's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am.
Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Wednesday, October 19th from 3-7pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available.
