Frances Columbus

Frances (Amoroso) Columbus of Stoneham formerly of Braintree, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Melrose Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. She was 97 years of age.



Born in Italy, Frances was the daughter of the late Maria (Assunta) Amoroso and Angelo Amoroso.



Frances was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all. She enjoyed gardening. She loved to crochet and make blankets. While living on a farm in New Hampshire, Frances learned how to cook and loved it from that moment on.



Frances was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Columbus. She was the devoted mother of Josephine Adams and her late husband Edward, Robert Columbus and his wife Margaret "Peggy" all of Stoneham, Theresa Valle and her husband Victor of Hull and the late James Columbus and his surviving wife Clara of Braintree. Cherished grandmother of 11, great grandmother of 19. Dear sister of Vincent Amoroso of East Boston and the late Angelo Amoroso.



Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Wednesday from 8:00-9:30 a.m. in the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street (Rt. 28) STONEHAM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Frances' Eternal Life at 10 am in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham. Interment Braintree Cemetery, Braintree.
