Frances A. (Quimby) Howland, of Concord New Hampshire, formerly of Reading and North Woodstock, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, with family by her side. She was 96 years of age.
Fran (affectionately known as ‘Maggie’ by many) was a kind and compassionate woman. She enjoyed hosting gatherings and traveling with good friends. Fran was a proud graduate of Concord High School class of 1948. She liked playing cribbage, pinochle, Rummikub and even taught herself to play bridge in her 90s. She was a talented rug hooker who created many beautiful keepsakes. Fran was a longstanding member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Above all, Fran loved her family. She deeply loved and missed her husband Everett whom she was married to for over 56 years. She treasured visits and time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Frances was predeceased by her parents Doris J. Quimby and Frank A. Quimby. Frances is the beloved wife of the late Everett E. Howland. She is the devoted mother of Scott Howland and his partner Marisa Taddei, James Howland and his wife Wendy and Sharon Zaccardi and her husband Vincent. She is the loving grandmother of Evan Howland and his partner Michelle, Neal Howland and his wife Thuy, Kayla Humes and her husband Jayce, Megan Kennedy and her husband Ryan, Nicholas Zaccardi and his wife Anne, Stephanie Zaccardi and her fiancée Craig and Andrew Zaccardi and his fiancée Sarah. Great grandmother of Vincent, Michael, Brooklyn, Blake, Zac and Brody. Dear sister of the late Dotty LaDuke, Pat Little, Ruth Sawyer and Bud Quimby. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with her family on Tuesday, October 6th, 2026 in the Barile Cota Family Funeral Home 335 Park St. North Reading from 10 am to 12 pm followed by a funeral service celebrating Frances’s Eternal Life at the First Baptist Church, 45 Woburn St. Reading, at 12:30 pm. Interment will be held Thursday, October 8th, at the Woodstock Cemetery at 11:30 am.
