June 4, 1926 – February 4, 2023
Frances (Mericantante) Venezia of Billerica, formerly of Medford and Woburn, where she lived for 61 years, at the age of 96 passed after a brief illness. Loving wife of 71 years of Mario Venezia who died in 2020. Predeceased by her father, John Mericantante, her mother, Mary Mericantante, her brothers, John, Walter and Leo and her sister, Mary Blake.
Loving mother and mother-in-law of her sons and daughter-in-laws, Jerry and his wife Cyndi of North Reading, Bob and his wife Terri of Billerica and Jack and his wife Christine of Atkinson, New Hampshire. Frances will be missed terribly by her grandchildren, Mike Venezia and his fiancée Stacie Nelson of Broward County, Florida, Danny Venezia and his wife Shauna of Billerica, Joey Venezia and his wife Maureen of Billerica, Michelle DeRosa and her husband Joe of Billerica, Mike Venezia and his wife Danielle of Nashua, New Hampshire, Steve Venezia and his wife Amanda of Merrimack, New Hampshire, Chris Venezia and his wife Jylian of Danvers, Matt Venezia and his companion Samantha LoRusso of Haverhill, Brittany Venezia of North Reading and the late Scott Venezia of Billerica. Loving Great Grandmother of Olivia, Daniel, Derek, Adriana, Katherine, Madeline, Gennaro, Zachary, Alexis, Tyler, Tony, Joey, Madelyn, Gabriella, Nicholas, Dario, Davian and Drew. Frances is also survived by her sister-in-laws Dodi Mericantante of Woburn and Eleanor Venezia of Billerica, her former daughter-in-law Barbi Venezia of Merrimack, New Hampshire as well as many nieces and nephews.
Frances grew up in Medford, Massachusetts graduating from Medford High School in 1944. She went to work at Jordan Marsh Department Stores after graduating from high school. She met her life long partner, Mario, after he was discharged from the United States Navy and they were married in 1949, residing in Medford before they moved to Woburn in 1959. Frances worked for many years as the receptionist at Hair by Tante which was owned and operated by her younger brother Leo and her sister-in-law Dodi. Frances and Mario retired in 1990 and began spending their winters at their condo in Citrus Hills, Florida. They met many friends there and took many trips throughout Florida to visit friends and family. They also enjoyed taking trips to the casinos in Alabama and Mississippi. Frances enjoyed gambling including playing poker, slot machines, the lottery and especially Bingo which she played regularly until she passed. Frances also loved to cook and for many years on Wednesday evenings she would prepare an Italian dinner for Mario, her sons, her brother and her next door neighbor. Frances and Mario enjoyed more than anything being with their large family especially during the summer cookouts at Bob and Terri's house. Frances lasting legacy was her unconditional love for her family.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a visiting hours at the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park Street (corner of Park St. and Route 28 at the Reading Line) North Reading, Massachusetts on Friday, February 10th, 2023 from 9:00 a.m.to 11:30am on Friday February 10, 2023.
A Funeral Service will immediately follow the visitation at 11:30am in the Funeral Home.
Burial will take place in Oak Grove cemetery, Medford, Massachusetts
Frances' family would like to thank the staff of Bright View Assisted Living in Billerica for the thoughtful and loving assistance that they provided to Frances during the last several years.
