BATTAGLIA, Francesco "Frank" J. of Medford, formerly of Somerville and Stoneham December 22, 2011 at age 83. Loving and caring husband of Eleanore "Ellie" (Thornton) Battaglia. Devoted father of Nancy-Jayms R. Battaglia and Steven J. Battaglia. Cherished grandfather of Colin and Austin James Freeman. Dear brother of Gloria Rockwell, Aldo, Auerilo, Yolanda, Gina, and Joseph Battaglia and the late Domenic and Silia Battaglia. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Frank was a US Marine Corps Veteran of WWII fought in the Battle of the Bulge and Army Veteran in Korea. He was a Recipient of the Purple Heart and a life time member of the V.F.W. Medford. Frank loved playing cards and attending dinners at the V.F.W. of Medford. He loved being with people and animals.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT28) STONEHAM Wednesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Frank's Life in St. Patrick's Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share remembrances with the family on Tuesday from 4-8pm in the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors at Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
