Francis J. "John" Carino Jr., of Stoneham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 13, 2023 at home with his family by his side. He was 69 years of age.
John was a proud graduate of both Stoneham High School, the class of 1972 and Salem State University, the class of 1998.
John was a voracious reader. He was never without a newspaper, book, or his eReader. John was also an avid golfer, playing many years on Monday nights at the local golf club with lifelong friends. John was also a giant baseball aficionado. He was never far from the baseball field. Whether umpiring softball on spring and summer nights, playing on his company softball team, taking his grandson to baseball tournaments all over the Northeast, watching his beloved hometown team, the Boston Red Sox, at Fenway park with his family including witnessing a World Series win, John’s love of baseball was a constant theme throughout his life.
But no love was more important than John’s love for his family. John’s passion for cooking made him the obvious choice as head chef for Sunday dinners. John often talked about Sunday dinners at his grandparents’ house as some of his fondest memories. Those memories led John to continue the tradition and no dinner became more important than Sunday dinner with him and anyone was always welcome. John’s children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and watching them grow was as he always said, “worth the price of admission”. Whether it was Sunday dinners, family vacations, graduations, weddings, or anything involving family, John was always happiest surrounded by those he loved and who loved him.
John is the beloved husband of Frances (DePinto) Carino. He is the loving father of Christine Venet and her husband Chris, Nick Carino and his wife Marissa and Frank Carino and his wife Katie. John was Grampy to 8 grandchildren, Nicholas, Gianni, Cameron, Carter, Jason, Alexander, Anthony and Julianna. Dear brother of Sharon Searing and her late husband Eddie and the late James Carino and his wife Kathy. John will also be lovingly remembered by Alison, Lisa, Michael, and all his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
