Francis L. "Frank" Shaughnessy, of Naples, FL and Concord, NH, formerly of Framingham, MA, entered into eternal rest on October 15, 2017. He was 82. Frank was the proud father of 10, grandfather of 24, great-grandfather of one.
Shaughnessy spent his entire professional career at the phone company, starting on December 1, 1952, a date he affectionately called "the luckiest day of my life." On that day he met the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Rita M. (Sutherby) Shaughnessy. Together Frank and Rita raised a family in faith, music and noise. They spent their early years of marriage in Massachusetts, first in Somerville and Stoneham, and then in Framingham for 31 years. In his retirement, Frank lived along golf courses in Florida and New Hampshire, where he pursued his life-long passion of the game, a love that started in the 1940's in the Mount Washington Valley. "Caddy camp" was the true highlight of his childhood.
Frank is predeceased by his oldest son, Stephen F. Shaughnessy, who left this earth far too early in 2014 at age 56, and by his sister, Barbara, and brother, John Michael. Frank was pained to leave his very special and beautiful wife, Rita (Sutherby) Shaughnessy, and his beloved children and their families: Monet (de los Santos) Shaughnessy of Manila, Philippines; Ellen Burger and her husband Peter of New Hampshire; Joseph Shaughnessy and his wife Harriet of Florida; Brian Shaughnessy and his wife Krista of New Hampshire; Mary Shaughnessy and her husband Matt Shogren of California; Mark Shaughnessy and his wife Maria Fox of Maine; Joan Shaughnessy of Massachusetts; D.J. Shaughnessy and his wife Tracy of Maine; Elizabeth Blades and her husband Christopher of Maine; and Michael Shaughnessy and his wife Sarah of Maine. Frank is also survived by his brothers, Paul and his wife Madeline of Florida; Robert of California; Daniel and his wife Janet of Massachusetts; and his dear sister, Mary Alice Shaughnessy and her husband Brian Nalepka of New Jersey. He also leaves several in-laws and scores of nieces and nephews.
