Francis DeGeorge, age 70, of Stoneham, passed away on January 10, 2020 in the loving presence of his family. Loving husband to Dianna (Estrella) DeGeorge, with whom he shared over 47 years of marriage. Devoted and cherished father to four very lucky children – Darcy, David, Courtney and Justin – and daughter-in-law Rebecca. Extremely proud Grampy of Carter and Paige. Dear baby brother to Vincent DeGeorge. Frank joins his late brothers, Louis and John, and late parents Fanny and Vincent. Adored son-in-law to the late John Estrella and Dorothy (Peichoto) Estrella, treasured brother-in-law to the late John Estrella. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Frank's family were the love of his life, and they were blessed by his extraordinary commitment and unconditional support.
Frank was born in Everett and raised in Stoneham, attending Stoneham High School and graduating from Boston College, where he met his wife, Dianna. He taught math at Melrose High School for over 35 years, rarely taking a sick day and always showing up in a shirt and tie. Frank blessed his students with his remarkable work ethic, deep mathematical knowledge, intensive use of overhead projectors, and plethora of quirky expressions. He served as coach of the chess team, where he maintained his undefeated record by politely declining all students' requests for a match. He also worked part-time as a real estate agent, known for his dedication and enthusiasm. Frank was a principled man who brought his sense of integrity and humor to his work, relationships, and everyday life.
Frank fought a prolonged battle with heart failure, but retained his kind, gentle demeanor and sense of gratitude to the end. He faced his illness as he did life – with grace and dignity. The family remains incredibly grateful to the cardiac staff at Tufts Medical Center, who took exceptional care of him and touched us all with their enduring kindness.
Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with the family on Thursday, January 16th in the Barile Family Funeral Home at 482 Main St. (RT28) Stoneham from 4 pm to 8 pm.
