Frank Gilson

d. March 5, 2021

Frank Gilson loved being outdoors. He was enthusiastic about camping, fishing, hunting and his favorite activity was swimming. You could always find him in a pool or lake. Every summer once he put the pool up you could catch Frank swimming in it or getting a sunburn in his favorite hammock. Also, during the summer, he used to take his daughter Melissa fishing down at Spot Pond when the weather was nice and even bought her a fishing pole to take on their day trips.

The family enjoyed many summer vacations camping at Yogi Bear Campground in New Hampshire and Quechee Gorge in Vermont. Some of his favorite trips with family and friends included adventures to The Grand Canyon, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Gettysburg, Lake George and several trips to Disney World.

He also enjoyed inviting friends and family over for barbeques especially when hosting a yearly fourth of July event. You could always catch him by the grill. Unfortunately he was not a grill master and he would be burning the food in typical Frank fashion.

Frank's taste in music (and fashion sense) never left the 70's. Classic rock was his station of choice and he always reminisced about him attending concerts in the good old days.

He was a devoted Boston sports fan trying to attend as many games as he could. In the fall while his daughter was a Pop Warner cheerleader you could find him on the sidelines cheering on the hometown Spartan teams and of course he would attend the cheering competitions to support his daughter and her team.

At 62 years of age, Frank passed away peacefully at Winchester Hospital on March 5th, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. He never led on that he was in any discomfort or pain. He kept a positive outlook and upbeat attitude never wanting to worry his loved ones. Frank was a long-term Stoneham resident, attending Stoneham schools, working for the Public Works Department and choosing to raise his family in Stoneham.

Frank was a loving and caring father, son, brother, uncle and friend. You could always count on him to have your back or supply a laugh when needed. His easy-going spirit and outgoing personality will be forever remembered and deeply missed by those who were lucky enough to have known and loved him.

Frank is the beloved father of Melissa Gilson. He is the loving son of Theresa (Barter) Gilson and the late Frank Gilson. The dear brother of Parker Reed, Dennis Gilson and his wife Susan and Scott Gilson, Frank is the former husband of Laura (Nelson) Gilson.
