Fred T. Donato

Fred T. Donato of Stoneham passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024. He is 93 years of age.

Born on Friday, September 5, 1930 in Boston, Fred is the loving son of the late Ferdinando Donato and Erminia (Orrei) Donato. Fred is a warm, kind & loyal son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed.

Fred was born in the North End of Boston and has also lived in East Boston, Somerville and Medford before moving to Stoneham 7 years ago with his devoted daughter, Grace Anne. He married his beloved wife, Grace on September 14, 1969 and they were married for 25 years before her passing on August 13, 1995. He was a loving father who taught his daughter to have a strong work ethic and to treat others with kindness and compassion.

Fred was a hard working man who was employed by the Commonwealth of MA as a laborer for 30 years with the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC). Upon his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his friends having coffee at the former Meadow Glen Mall in Medford or sharing Italian pastry with his dear departed friend, Pasquale Servello. The Servello family became part of our family. We have shared so many memories over the years and he was especially grateful to Joann and Frank Servello for spending time with him in the weeks before his passing. Fred loved being "Papa" to his grandkitty, Irene and would love reading the Herald with her by his side.

An avid Red Sox fan, Fred chose his confirmation name, Theodore, after legendary slugger, Ted Williams. He was also proud to take his picture with 2004 World Series trophy when the Red Sox reversed the curse.

Fred is the beloved husband of the late Grace (Harrington) Donato. He is the devoted father of Grace A. Donato and the dear brother of the late Elisa DeChristoforo, Rose Luongo, Ann Muggli, Angie Miller, Lucy Estes and Dominic Donato. Fred is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and his cherished grand kitty Irene.

A Funeral Mass Celebrating Fred’s Eternal Life will be held on Thursday, April 11^th at 10am in Saint Patrick Church, 71 Central Street STONEHAM. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Fred’s Family on Thursday, April 11^th prior the the Mass from 8:30 – 9:30am in the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street, (RT 28) STONEHAM. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
