Fred Reda

Fred Reda, of Medford, formerly of Somerville, passed away on Thursday June 15th, 2023. He was 74  years of age.

Fred came to the United States in 1965 in search of the American Dream. He learned English by reading a newspaper, became a machinist, and worked at Palmer Manufacturing until he retired in 2016. Fred built a beautiful life for himself and his family with his incredible work ethic and his passion to create a better life for his children. There was nothing in the world that Fred was more proud of than his six grandchildren, they were all the apple of his eye and he was theirs. He also dedicated a big part of his life to the game of soccer, Fred was the president of Medford Youth Soccer and founded Medford United Soccer Club. He helped everyone that he ever met with the same passion as he helped his own family. Fred kept his love for his home country of Italy but the United States was his home and he was forever grateful for the opportunity and life that this country gave him. 

Fred is the beloved husband of Adele (Giurleo) Reda. He is the devoted father of Steven Reda, Jaime Tammaro and her husband Derek, Linda Daley and her husband Brian and Michael Reda and his wife Stephanie. Loving grandfather of Brian Daley, Andrew Daley, Olivia Tammaro, Victoria Tammaro, Dylan Reda and Nicolo Reda. Dear brother of the late Angelo Reda and Enrico Reda. Brother-in-law of Saverio Giurleo and his wife Yvonne, Rosanna LoCoco and her husband Salvatore, Anthony Giurleo and his wife Jeanne and the late Maria Pastore, Nick Giurleo and Elizabeth Fernandez. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. 

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT28) STONEHAM on Thursday June 22nd 2023 at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Fred's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10 am. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. 

Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with his family on Wednesday June 21st, 2023 from 4 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home. Parking attendants and elevator available.
