George Geragosian, a lifelong resident of Stoneham, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2021 at the age of 97. George was predeceased by his loving wife Sona. George is survived by his three children David Geragosian, Kathy Speen and her husband Michael and Nancy Cullen. Dear grandfather to Jonathan, Andrew, Ryan, and Dylan. Also great-grandfather to Liam Cullen and Ella Speen.
George was in the Navy from 1943-1946 stationed on the Navy ship U.S.S. Wharton. He was fondly known as "Blackie" by his shipmates. Upon discharge, George married in 1950 and opened and operated the "Pizza King," where he was known for the best pizza in town. Back in the day, George was an original member of the Stoneham Redmen's Club where he enjoyed playing cards and hosting pizza parties, always fun-loving and ready to have a good time.
George enjoyed his family and traveling annually with his wife to his beloved U.S.S. Wharton reunions. Often the highlight of his traveling was his love of casinos. In his later years, he was a member of the Stoneham Senior Center and had many friends there. He would also spend hours at his kitchen table reading his cherished Boston Herald as well as watching his favorite black and white western TV shows.
Services and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 or online at diabetes.org/donate or to the Stoneham Senior Center, 136 Elm Street, Stoneham, MA 02180.
