George J. Havanidis

George J. Havanidis of Stoneham, formerly of Somerville, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at his home. He was 77 years of age.

George was the beloved husband of Alexandra (Kourepenis) Havanidis. He was the devoted father of John Havanidis and his wife Tracie and Elaine Aidonidis and her husband Dan. The cherished grandfather of Zachary, George, Anthony, Alex and Nicole, George was the dear brother of Kostas Havanidis and his wife Feso, Anasti Havanidis and his wife Anna and the late Haralambos Havanidis and Stathe Havanidis and his surviving wife Eleni. He was the loving brother in law of his extended family. George was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

George was a talented professional Soccer Player in Greece, playing for Paok, Germany and the United States.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 11am in Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 29 Central St. Somerville. At the request of the family, please go directly to church. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Monday, February 3, 2014 from 4-8pm in the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM. Parking attendants and handicapped elevator are available. Interment Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
