George C. Newell

George C. Newell, of Woburn, passed away on Saturday July 2, 2022. He was 54 years of age.

George proudly defended our freedom as a member of the United States Army. His career was with the Army for 26 years. Throughout that time George served 7 tours and received many awards including the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Award, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War of Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and Global War on Terrorism Service.

George is the beloved father of Alexandria Newell and her boyfriend Gerardo Serfin and Rory Newell. He is the loving son of Donna (O'Brien) Roche and Tom Roche Sr. He is the dear brother of Tom Roche Jr. and his late wife Karen, Lee Ann Hodapp and her husband Bill, Lauren Budden and her husband Joe and the late Craig Newell. He is the uncle of Craig Roche, Justin Roche, Michael Hodapp, Joey Hodapp, Karly and Marc Bennett, Amelia Bennett,  Julia Budden, Andrew Budden, and Alyssa Budden.  Many special aunts and uncles Florence Elliston and her late husband Carl, Hank O’Brien and his wife Sue, Mike O'Brien and his wife Karen, Laura Upton and her husband Tom, the late Tom Burns and his wife Nancy, Kathy Dion, Maryellen Roche, Paul Roche and his wife Annette,  Leo Roche and his wife Joann, Terry Briggs and her husband Harvey and Vincent Roche Jr.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT28) STONEHAM Saturday July 16, 2022 at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating George's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10 am.

Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with the family on Friday July 15, 2022 from 4 pm to 7 pm in the funeral home. Parking attendants and elevator available.
