George Peter Sacco, age 93, of Stoneham passed away on January 17, 2026.
George was born on July 19, 1932 in Lynn, Massachusetts. He graduated from Lynn Classical High School, where he played center on the varsity hockey team. Shortly after high school, George served in the Navy for two years during the Korean War aboard the USS Grand Canyon as an electrician apprentice.
After returning home, one night while attending a dance on Revere Beach Boulevard, he asked a woman named Thelma to dance. Thelma turned out to be the love of his life. They married and began their life together in East Boston. They moved to Stoneham into a new home George designed for Thelma and his four children, where they raised their family and made lifelong friends.
George attended night school at Northeastern University and earned his Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering. For over 40 years, he worked as an electrical draftsman for various companies in Boston.
George enjoyed many passions and hobbies. He loved music whether it was singing, or playing a musical instrument. He played the mandolin, piano, harmonica, accordion, or any other instrument he could get his hands on.
Other hobbies included sailing, swimming, diving, gardening, ice skating, woodworking, and joke telling. He also enjoyed hosting large annual family cookouts and attending many neighborhood gatherings. But nothing gave him more pleasure than spending time with his family, especially his nine grandchildren!
He was predeceased by his wife Thelma (Fuccillo) Sacco, the love of his life for over 50 years. He is survived by his children, Isabel and her husband Albert, George, Lauren and her husband Albert, Karen and her husband David, grandchildren Peter, Gregory, George, Rachel, Michael, Isabella, Madeline, Sarah, and John, along with many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with George’s family on Friday, January 23rd from 4-7pm in the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main Street (RT 28) Stoneham, MA. Parking attendants and elevator available.
