October 7, 1922 — December 2, 2005

Giacomo J. "Jack" Giangrasso of Reading passed away on Friday, December 2, 2005 at Winchester Hospital. He was 83 years of age.





Born in Sicily, Jack was the beloved son of the late Michael and Josephine (Furmari) Giangrasso. Jack was an adoring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all.





Jack owned two Beauty Salons in Melrose and Wakefield, called Beauty Haven. He then worked at Goodyear Graphics until his retirement. Jack was an aviation machinist in the United States Navy during World War II. He was an undefeated boxer while in the Navy. Jack and his brother Vincent both flew home 3,000 miles to have a double wedding, for they married two best friends. After the war, Jack worked for the Federal Bureau of Engraving printing money.





Jack was the beloved husband of 61 years to Elvira (Pierro) Giangrasso. He was the devoted father of Josephine Saija of Reading and the cherished grandfather of Stephanie Mitchell and her husband Jeffrey of Melrose and Joseph Saija and his wife Laurie of Burlington. Jack was the dear brother of the late Vincent Giangrasso.





Funeral from the Joseph Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. READING Wednesday at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Jack's life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 9am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8pm. Parking is available in the municipal parking lot located behind Atlantic Supermarket on Haven St. Interment Charles Lawn Memorial Park, Reading.
