Gilda J. Ebert

August 26, 1915 — March 7, 2011

Gilda J. (Birarelli) Ebert of Medford, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011 at Winchester Hospital. She was 95 years of age.



Born in Everett, Gilda was the daughter of the late Georgina (Sbrasia) Birarelli and Augusto Birarelli.



Gilda was better known to her family as Mommy, Aunt Gilda, Nanna Gilda, Big Nanna, Old Na. She loved her family more than anything and cooked for every party they had, her cooking was second to none. Gilda's grandsons only would eat her famous meatballs and cutlets, the Eggplant was no comparison to anyone else, whenever served it was gone as quick as she put it down. Gilda loved sitting on her wicker chair on the front porch in the warm weather. She was always ready to go anywhere you wanted to go. She never worked outside of the home but took care of her children with a mothers love that was beyond compare. Gilda loved life and will be missed like no other.



Gilda was the beloved wife of the late Arthur Ebert. She was the devoted mother of Leonard Ebert and his wife Dorothea of Reading, Donna Ebert of Medford, Gilda "Jill" LaVita and her husband Robert of Wilmington and Richard Travers of Medford. She was the cherished grandmother of James Ebert of Reading, Dennis Ebert and his wife Jennifer of Everett, Rob LaVita and his wife Melissa of Wakefield, Michael LaVita and his wife Lynn of Wilmington and the late Michele Ebert. Great grandmother of 11. Gilda was the dear sister of Father Carlo Birarelli and the late Elvira Puopolo and Leo Birarelli. She is also survived by her dog Snowball and many loving nieces and nephews.



Funeral from the Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING Friday at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Gilda's Eternal life in St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading at 10:30 am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Thursday from 4-8 pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants will be available. Interment Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
