Giovanni "John" Gargano of Stoneham passed away on Monday, February 20, 2006 at Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester.
Born on August 20, 1914 in Cassino, Italy, John was the loving son of the late Antonio Gargano and Carolina (Simeone) Gargano. John was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all.
John was a resident of Stoneham for the past 52 years. He was a dedicated employee at Converse Rubber in Malden. He then worked at Atlantic Gelatin in Woburn. Following that, he owned his own Landscaping Company. During World War II, John was a veteran of the Italian Army. He belonged to the Marconi Club in Stoneham. John's true passion was his family. His love for them went unparalleled. John also enjoyed gardening and making his own homemade wine.
John was the beloved husband of 54 years to Maria (Secondini) Gargano. He was the devoted father of Jean Jalali and her husband Ali A. of Needham, Suzanne Riley and her husband William of Stoneham and the late Diana Marie Gargano. John was the cherished grandfather of Melissa Jalali, Diana and Sean Riley. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Friday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating John's life in St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours Thursday 4-8pm. Parking attendants will be on duty. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham.
