Harold J. Doucette of Pike, NH, formerly of Reading, passed away on February 22, 2016 at 93 years of age. Harold was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
Harold is the beloved husband of Ann (Simard) Doucette. He is predeceased by his first wife Barbara (Davis) Doucette who died in 1994. He is the devoted father of Christopher Doucette and his wife Debora, and Barbara Stocker and her husband Todd, all of Lancaster. Harold is the cherished grandfather of Braden Doucette, Nolan Stocker and the late Alexander Doucette. He is the loving son of Eli and Mary (Muise) Doucette. Harold is the brother of Pauline Van Schalkwyk and her late husband Dick, the late Wilbur Doucette, the late Arthur Doucette and his surviving wife Mary, the late William Doucette and his surviving wife Eileen and the late Lawrence Doucette and his late wife Jean. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
He was a longtime member of St. Agnes Church and played guitar at the folk mass for many years and was involved in many ministries. He was a mason and built his home on Pearl Street. He was an avid amateur astronomer and made several telescopes himself. He loved his vegetable gardens, both in Reading and in New Hampshire.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, February 26th from 4-6pm at the Doherty-Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St., READING. His funeral will be held on Saturday, February 27th from the funeral home at 9:30am followed by a 10:30am Mass celebrating Harold's Eternal Life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St., Reading. Interment at Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.
