Harry L. Beeth

February 12, 1922 — June 9, 2018

Harry Lincoln Beeth, of Reading, formerly of Syosset, N.Y., passed away on Saturday June 9, 2018 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House.

A loving family man and a man loved by all. Harry was a natural and gifted athlete. A shortstop with a great glove and a knack for getting on base, baseball was Harry's lifelong passion. Born and raised in Queens, his team, of course, was the Yankees. His hero Lou Gehrig. Barely over five feet, he also left his mark on the basketball court before shifting his talent to tennis and golf. He enjoyed life to the fullest and was loved by everyone. His recorded phone message rendition of San Francisco entertained family and friends alike and rivaled the Tony Bennet original. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The ballfield in South Ozone Park, Queens was where Harry honed his craft and met his lifelong sweetheart, Jenny. Married for 71 years, Harry and Jenny savored every day together, holding hands, traveling the world and embracing their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and wide circle of dear friends.

Harry proudly served our country as a member of the United States Army as a tank commander in the 12th Armored Division during WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart and he and Jenny attended many annual 12th Armored Division reunions.

Harry was the beloved husband of the late Jeanette (Calcagno) Beeth. During their 71 years of marriage they enjoyed traveling all over the world. He was the devoted father of Harry R. Beeth and his wife Vanna, Lucille Beeth and her husband Stephen Quigley, Richard Beeth and his wife Linda. Harry was the cherished grandfather of 8 and great grandfather of 8. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
