Henry J. Surette

Henry J. Surette of Reading, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2013 at Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. He was 85 years of age.

Born in Melrose, Henry was the loving son of the late Anslem Surette and Bridget (D'Entremont) Surette. Henry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to those who knew him.

During World War II, Henry proudly defended our freedom by serving in the United States Army. Henry was a member of the Reading VFW Post # 865, Reading American Legion Post # 62. He was a lifetime member of the Reading Rifle & Revolver Club. Henry was President and Treasurer of The North Reading Monday Night Men's Bowling League. He retired from Mack Trucks in Brighton after 32 years of working as a diesel mechanic. Henry was a morning crew member at Last Corner in Reading for 38 years.

Henry was the husband of Jean (Melanson) Surette. He was the devoted father of Cheryl Lee Comunale and her husband Pasquale, Mark Surette and Mike Surette. Henry was the cherished grandfather of Leanne Dunn and her fiancé Mark Graffam, Robert C. Dunn, Jr., Ashley A. Comunale and Michael Surette. The dear brother of Paul Surette, Richard Surette, Geraldine Evans, Jeanette Surette, David Surette, Caroline Connolly, Jimmy Surette, Johnny Surette and the late Philip Surette and Robert Surette, he was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service celebrating Henry's Life will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 2 pm in the Chapel of the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family prior to the Service, beginning at 11am. Parking attendants and handicapped entrance are available.
