Irene T. Linehan

July 29, 1935 — January 27, 2013

Irene T. (Simmons) Linehan of Reading, formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Winchester Hospital. She was 77 years of age.





Born in Boston, Irene was the loving daughter of the late Irving Simmons and Lillian (Browning) Simmons. Irene was a warm and caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.





Irene grew up in Somerville and then moved to Reading in 1964. She graduated from Matignon High School in the class of 1953. She studied voice at the New England Conservatory of Music where she was a member of The Handel and Haydn Society. Irene's true love was for her family. She was a devoted homemaker dedicated to raising her 4 children and she especially enjoyed the time spent with her 9 grandchildren.





Irene was the beloved wife for 54 years of Robert Linehan. She was the devoted mother of Catherine Francis and her husband John of Littleton, Cynthia Muldoon and her husband John of Sudbury, Michele Martin and her husband Don of Beverly, James Linehan and his wife Lauree of Andover. Irene was the cherished grandmother of Mary and Colleen Francis, Michael and Krysten Muldoon, Jessica and Kyle Martin and triplets Will, Elly and Rob Linehan.





Funeral from the Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING Thursday at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Irene's Eternal Life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:30am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Wednesday from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and handicapped entrance are available. Interment Wood End Cemetery, Reading.
