J. Manuel M. Ferreira

J. Manuel M. Ferreira, 62, of Wakefield, Massachusetts, was called home to Heaven on November 11, 2023. 

Born on June 24, 1961 in Terceira, Azores to Maria M. Ferreira and Joao T. Ferreira.  Manuel immigrated to the U.S. with his parents and siblings in 1966.  Spending much of his life in Pawtucket, RI until moving to Wakefield, MA. Manuel "Manny" spent his entire life battling his health, born with epilepsy, though he lived a good life.  

Manuel was deeply religious, raised and practiced daily as a Roman Catholic, and he had a special love and deep faith for his "Mother Mary in Heaven", the Blessed Virgin Mother Mary, and Jesus Christ, our Saviour.  Uncle Manny, as he was known to his nieces and nephews, was always thinking about the well being of his family.  He usually had a smile on his face, especially if there were a dog or two around, as he loved all dogs and animals. He loved spending time at the beach or outdoors, but most importantly, he was most happy spending time with his family.  Manuel spent his most recent years living in Wakefield, MA so that he would be close to his "amiga" or "best friend" and sister, Rita. In the nursing home his friendliness was contagious, he made many friends and enjoyed playing and winning Bingo during game night.  

Manuel is survived by four siblings including Rita M. Garcia of Wakefield, MA, Marta (Antonio) DaCosta of North Providence, RI, Joseph (Maria John) Ferreira of Seekonk, MA and Maria (Antonio) Amarante of North Myrtle Beach, SC and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maria M. Ferreira and Joao T. Ferreira, his brother Joao-Lazaro (sister-in-law Patricia) Ferreira, sister Sarafina Ferreira, and brother-in-law Antonio F. Garcia.  

Visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse St. Providence, RI, on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 11am-12pm immediately followed by a Catholic Mass. Burial at Notre Dame Cemetery in Pawtucket, RI at 1pm.
