James Patrick Doherty, Jr. of Dracut, formerly of Medford and Stoneham passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 2, 2023, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He is 54 years of age.
Born on February 4, 1969 in Brighton, James is the loving son of James P. Doherty and Marie (Buonopane) Doherty of Stoneham.
He was educated in the Stoneham Public Schools; St. John’s Preparatory High School; University of Vermont and graduated from Salem State University. He is a gifted mortgage underwriter specialist/manager for over twenty years, most recently employed by American Financial Resources.
Jim enjoys spending time with his family; his wife and boys are his world. He is very proud of both his boys and always has a story to share. He is a devoted father who actively participates in coaching his sons athletic teams and other endeavors. Jim is an avid Bruins and Patriots fan. He is also a longtime member of the men's “Breakfast Club.”
Jim is the beloved husband of Cheryl (Howard) Doherty. He is the devoted father of Christopher J. MacDonald and Aidan J. Doherty. He is the dear brother of Jamie Fantasia and her husband Michael of Billerica and Michael Doherty and his wife Brittany Soares of Stoneham. Jim is also lovingly survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM, Thursday, March 9 th at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Jim’s Eternal Life in St. Joseph’s Church, 173 Albion St. Wakefield at 10am.
Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Jim's Family on Wednesday, March 8 th from 3-7pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevators are available.
