James S. Rando

July 26, 1929 — September 14, 2012

James S. "Jim" Rando of Wilmington, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2012 after a lengthy illness. He was 83 years of age.





Jim was a member of the National Guard for 19 years. Jim was retired after many years of working in the construction business. At one time, he owned his own construction business, Meridian Construction. Followed by several years of being employed by the Town of Wilmington.





He was a member of St. Agnes Parish in Reading, where he enjoyed participating in the men's retreat and being an usher at Mass for many years. In his younger years, he was a member of the Sons of Italy in Wilmington. In his spare time, he enjoyed taking long walks and working in the yard.





Jim was the beloved husband for 59 years of Constance M. (Valiante) Rando. He was the devoted father of James S. Rando, Jr. of MD, Janice M. Goodwin of NH, Joseph Rando of Uxbridge, Judy A. Newton of Reading. Jim was the cherished grandfather of Shaun Canavan, Kellie Moore, Megan LeClair, Michael Canavan, Charles Newton, Daniel Newton. He was the loving great grandfather of 11. Jim was the dear brother of Nancy Garvey and her husband John of Medford and the late Phyllis Tusa, Mary Cunniff and Jenny Nehmer. He was the brother in law of Joe Tusa, Buddy Nehmer and the late Martin Cunniff and the son of the late Joseph Rando and Angelina (Pittorino) Rando. Jim was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.





Funeral from the Doherty - Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING Tuesday at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Jim's Eternal Life in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:30am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Monday from 5-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants will be available. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
