James “Jim” Razzaboni entered the world of eternal peace on February 5th, 2026, at Melrose Wakefield Hospital, surrounded by the love of his cherished family. He was 89 years old.
Born on April 3, 1936, in Somerville, Massachusetts, Jim was the beloved son of Mary (Malski) and James V. Razzaboni. Though Somerville was always home, his heart lived just as fully at the family’s Elise Avenue house on the Concord River in Billerica, where they spent their summers. It was there that Jim discovered some of the joys that shaped his life—boating, water skiing, fishing, and target shooting—memories he carried with him always.
A proud graduate of Somerville High School’s Class of 1953, Jim went on to attend the Franklin Institute of Technology before serving his country with quiet pride in the United States Army.
Jim’s life changed forever in 1958 when he met the love of his life, Eleanor “Ellie” Tuminelli. They married on September 9th, 1962, beginning a partnership defined by devotion, humor, and unwavering love that endured for more than 63 years. They settled in Stoneham in 1967, where they built a home that was warm and filled with cherished memories. He affectionately called her “his sweetie,” and remained deeply appreciative of the beautiful life they created together.
Jim was a natural problem-solver who could fix just about anything—and genuinely loved doing it. Whether tackling a home project, a repair, or building something from scratch, he approached every task with confidence and care. His gardens were legendary: vibrant flowers and abundant vegetables that he tended with patience and pride.
Nothing brought Jim more joy than his daughter, Lisa Razzaboni Auffrey of Wakefield, and his grandchildren, Bradford Kelley of Cambridge, Tara Kelley of South Boston, and Jessica Auffrey of Wakefield. They were the lights of his life. Anyone who spoke with Jim knows how quickly their names would come up—and how brightly his face would shine when they did.
Jim was the eldest son of Mary and James and was predeceased by his sister, Jane Eori, and her husband, Anthony; his brothers, Dr. Henry Razzaboni and his wife, Carol; and Alfred Razzaboni and his wife, Caroline. He treasured his large extended family, and his many nieces and nephews brought him immense happiness. He adored them, just as they adored him.
After a remarkable 33-year career at Simpson, Gumpertz & Heger (SGH), Jim retired in 2002. He took great pride in being employee number 14 and in contributing to the company’s early growth. His colleagues held deep respect for his skill, dedication, and integrity.
A celebration of Jim’s life will take place on Thursday, February 12th, 10:00 am, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham. Interrment will be private.
Jim was known as a very kind man; please consider an act of kindness in his memory.
