James Michael Whalen

James Michael Whalen, of Bluffton S.C., formerly of Canton, passed away on Tuesday Jan. 22, 2019. He was 76 years of age.
James was the beloved husband of the late Ann Whalen. He was the loving father to Stephen Whalen and his wife Anna of Washington, Kerry Whalen of Vermont, and Kate DePalma and her husband Jeremy of Reading. He was also a loving grandpa to his three grandchildren. Jim also leaves his sister Louise D'Alleva and her husband John and the late Richard Whalen. Brother in law of John and his wife Ellen, David Driscoll and Carmela Whalen along with many nieces, nephews and friends. A special thank you to the community at the Residence at Pearl St.
Jim was born and raised in South Boston before marrying Ann in 1969. He worked as an electrician at Mass General Hospital and Boston College. He enjoyed his retirement in South Carolina and traveling near and far.
At the request of the family services are private.
