Jan A. Murphy of Stoneham, September 27, 2013 at age 53. Beloved husband of Lauren (Smith) Murphy. Devoted father of Jeffrey Murphy, Christopher Murphy and Kathryn Murphy. Dear brother of James Murphy, Joyce Bassett and her husband Charles, Joseph Murphy and his wife Donna, Judith Murphy and Dennis Reilly, and Jerome Murphy and his wife Kathleen. Cherished son of the late James and Rose (Kelly) Murphy. Loving Son-in-law of Ruth M. Smith. Survived by many loving nieces and nephews and his dog Sparky.



Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Jan's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and handicapped elevator are available. Interment St. Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham.

Jan was born and schooled in Somerville. Growing up, he enjoyed deck hockey with friends known as the "Muffin Men" where he dominated in net. Worked at Distributor Corporation of New England for thirty five years, where he rose to the position of Manager of Engineering Service. He spent his weekends golfing with family and friends. He enjoyed carpentry and home improvement. He passed away peacefully.
