Jane (Hayden) Kingsley

Jane Hayden Kingsley passed away on June 18, 2023 She was born in Pensacola FL and grew up in Maryland. It was there that she met her husband, Glen, who was a West Point graduate. Being the wife of an Air Force officer, they spent time in Arizona, Ohio, and California. In California, Jane enjoyed rock hunting with other Air Force families. There were many wonderful campfires under the desert sky. (To be honest, rock hunting is not that difficult because they don’t move that fast!) Jane and family then went to Long Island where Jane and Glen both worked for Grumman. Their time at Grumman included a stint in Houston where Glen worked with the Apollo 11 astronauts, testing the lunar module before the historic flight to the moon.

After a few years at Grumman that included some time in Iran, Jane and Glen retired to Carrollton GA where both she and Glen had family. They brought all their square dancing outfits and continued this hobby there. Jane was a Master Gardener, and enjoyed helping all the southerners with their gardening questions when she volunteered at the Carroll County Ag Center. While there, they pursued their interest in quilting to help establish the Southeast Quilt and Textile Museum.

Jane is survived by 5 sons, Tracy and his wife Gina, John and his wife Lynn, David, Stephen, and Chris and his wife Susan. She enjoyed seeing her 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren spend time at the family cabin in Maine, which has been in the family for over 100 years. Watching the kids and their flotilla of inflatables on the lake gave her great pleasure!

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to either the Torsey Pond Association, or the Southeast Quilt and Textile Museum.

A family service will be held at the family cabin later in the summer.
