Janet J. Strickland

Janet J. Strickland, age 96, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026, in North Reading, Massachusetts, surrounded by the love of her family. In 1952, she married the love of her life, John “Jack” Strickland, and they shared 40 blissfully happy years of marriage until his passing in 1993.

Born on June 22, 1930, in Burlington, Massachusetts, Janet was the beloved mother of John, Wayne, Judy, and Darlene Strickland. She was a devoted grandmother to nine grandchildren, a cherished great-grandmother to fourteen great-grandchildren, and was blessed with one great-great-grandchild.

Janet spent her childhood in Burlington, made her home in Medford for most of her adult life, and enjoyed her final 17 years in North Reading, where she remained surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Janet was known for her strength, resilient spirit, generosity, warm hospitality, and unwavering devotion to her family. Together with her beloved husband, Jack, she built a life filled with love, hard work, and cherished memories while raising their four children.

She had a remarkable work ethic and rarely sat still. Over the years, she worked at Simmons Mattress, wallpapered countless homes, enjoyed creating beautiful pieces through ceramic classes, and was a proud, dedicated member of TOPS Club for 43 years. Whether she was working, creating, or spending time with those she loved, Janet embraced each day with determination, kindness, and a generous heart that touched everyone who knew her.

Janet’s legacy will continue in the lives of all who loved her.
