Mrs. Jean E. (McCarthy) O’Connell, of Stoneham passed away peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family after an illness. She is 82 years of age.
Born on Tuesday, September 26, 1939 in Winchester, Jean is the loving daughter of the late Francis and Helen (Cannon) McCarthy. Jean is a gentle, warm and kind daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend who will be truly missed.
In addition to raising her three sons, Jean worked as a bookkeeper at Winchester Country Club and later in the office of Dr. Edward Dancewicz in Reading.
Jean loved her family and her parish church of Saint Patrick where she volunteered in various capacities. Tim’s life work was always at a golf club and course and while she never played the game, she shared the love and passion for watching a good round in person or on television. Jean was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed the read of a good book which she always had in hand. She was always present on the sidelines of various sporting events for each of her grandkids.
Jean is the beloved wife of the late Timothy M. O’Connell. She is the devoted mother of Timothy M. O'Connell Jr. and his wife Kathy, Kevin J. O’Connell and his wife Deborah and Brian M. O’Connell and his wife Julia. The cherished grandmother of Matthew, Andrew, Erin, Sean, Jack, Kaylie, Lily and Gracie, Jean is the great grandmother of Delilah. She is the dear sister of the late Francis “Frank” McCarthy and his late wife Elizabeth “Betty Lou” and the loving sister-in-law of Richard O'Connell and his wife Mary. Jean is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM, Wednesday, June 29th at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Jean's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Jean’s Family on Tuesday, June 28th from 4-7 pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Stoneham.
