Jeanette "Jan" "DeCillis" Saitta

Jeanette "Jan" D. (DeCillis) Saitta of Stoneham, passed away on March 11, 2016. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Jeanette will be missed by all who knew her.

Jeanette was the beloved wife of Peter Saitta, and the devoted mother of Laura J. Berg and her husband Robert and Frank J. Saitta and his fiancé Jan. One of five children of the late Pasquale and Anna (DeVellis) DeCillis, Jeanette was the dear sister of Patricia Phillips and husband Donald, the late Mary LeBrasseur, the late Clare Deary and her late husband Robert, and the late Frank "Sonny" DeCillis.

In addition to her husband, her children, and her sister, Jeanette is survived by her cherished grandchildren, Kara Berg, Preston Saitta, and Madyson Saitta, and her many nieces and nephews and their families.

Jeanette loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed travelling, taking long car rides, especially to Cape Cod and Maine, and going to Foxwoods. Although she was not a golfer, she had a passion for watching it on television. She was also a whiz at answering Jeopardy questions.

Throughout her life, Jeanette remained very close with her friends from high school and with her friends from Stoneham, including the many she made while working in the bakery of the former Star Market in Stoneham—a job that she loved. Former customers still remember her for her smile and spirit, and former young customers remember her for the free cookies!

Despite her health challenges, Jeanette never gave up. She persevered in the face of physical adversity, continually amazing her family and friends with her fortitude.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT28) STONEHAM on Friday March 18th at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Jeanette's Eternal Life in St. Patrick's Church 71 Central Street, Stoneham at10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the family on Thursday, March 17th from 4-8pm in the funeral home. Parking attendants and elevator available. Interment at Lindenwood Cemetery.
