Joan (Galluzzo) Fiato

Joan Fiato (Galluzzo), of Billerica, age 77, formerly of Arlington passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 after a courageous battle with health concerns.  

Joan is the beloved daughter of the late Salvatore Galluzzo, the late Mary and Lou Panebianco.  Wife of the late John A. Fiato. She is the cherished mother of Lisa Caswell and John Fiato. Mother in law of Kristen Fiato. Loving grandmother of Michael and his wife Darryel, Alex, Zachary and Kendall. Great grandmother of Nylah. Dear sister of Rosemary Doyle and her husband Jeff, the late Janice Whittier, and Peter Galluzzo. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.  

Joan was raised in Arlington, MA, and was surrounded by her extended family and many close friends. She married her Junior High School sweetheart, Johnny, and they forged quite the life together. Joan was an established homemaker until Johnny took ill.  Joan jumped back into the workforce, ultimately completing a 33 year career at W.R. Grace. Joan was the epitome of live, laugh, and love. She was the best daughter, sister, mother, aunt, nana, great nana, and friend you could possibly have in your life. Joan was an avid animal lover with a particular affection for dogs. She couldn’t wait to spoil her babies with many treats. Joan was always giving and thinking of others first but when she found time for herself, she loved to spend that time with friends and family at the nearest casino, chasing her buffaloes! Joan will be fondly remembered and missed by so many.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT28) STONEHAM on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Joan's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10 am. Interment in Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.

Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with the family on Sunday, February 25, 2024 from 2 pm to 6 pm in the funeral home. Parking attendants and elevator available.
