Joan Frances (Donnelly) Havican

Joan Frances (Donnelly) Havican of Stoneham, formerly of Somerville, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022.  She is 90 years of age.

Born on Saturday, November 21, 1931 in Somerville, Joan is the loving daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Donnelly.  Joan is a gentle, warm, kind and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend who will be truly missed by all whose lives she touched.

Joan was a caring woman who was admired by anyone who knew her. An independent and loving 90-year-old who put a smile on others faces with her spunk and understanding. She loved to travel with her sister in the states and Europe.  She loved her time at her cottage at Long Beach where she spent time with her family. She was an avid reader, loved board games and could always be found playing cribbage with her family and friends at the Senior Center. Her favorite times were family dinners and spending time with the four generations of her family. She will never be forgotten, and she made all who knew her a better person.

Joan is the beloved wife of the late John R. Havican.  She is the devoted mother of Patricia Carpentier and her husband Kim, Michael Havican and his wife Mary and Shawn Havican and his husband Shaughaan Kelley.  The cherished grandmother of Nicole Day and her husband Christopher, Michelle Collins and her husband Todd, Melissa Anderson and her husband Ryan, Caitlin Hughes and her husband Brian, John Havican and his wife Maria, Taylor Havican and Morgan Havican, Joan is the doting great grandmother of Kiernan Day, Madison Day, Payton Day, Rylan Collins, Miles Collins, Alivia Anderson, Connor Anderson, McKenna Hughes, Brooklyn Hughes and Ryder Havican.  She is the dear sister of Barbara Campbell and the late Catherine Palmer, John, William and Ruth Donnelly.  Joan is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Wednesday, June 15^th at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Joan’s Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am.  Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Joan’s Family on Tuesday, June 14^th from 4-7pm in the Funeral Home.  Parking attendants and elevator are available.  Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
