Joan Finneran Mosher

February 2, 1929 – January 3, 2022

Joan Mosher, 92, of Naples, Florida, passed away from kidney disease peacefully and surrounded by family on January 3, 2022, at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA. Born February 2, 1929 in Melrose, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late William and Gladys Finneran of Wakefield, Massachusetts.

She graduated from Wakefield High School in 1946, where she met her husband Burr, and went on to raise five children before becoming an executive assistant for several banks and brokerage houses.

Over the years the family lived in Wakefield, Massachusetts, Hawthorne, New York, and Lynnfield, Massachusetts.  After their retirement she and Burr relocated to Naples, Florida, where she enjoyed her family, friends, and being poolside.  She particularly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, to whom she was affectionally known as "Mia" or "Mama Mia".

Joan was an avid reader throughout her life, for not only pleasure but also to satisfy her continuous thirst for knowledge. She volunteered as a Junior Great Books teacher and visited local schools in Naples to read to children. Joan was known to build the libraries of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, many of whom loved to listen to her read aloud. From an early age, she exhibited an interest in the world around her and enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends over the years. Joan had an eye for fashion, a passion for cooking and entertaining and a personality that always made her the life of the party.

Her husband, Burr J Mosher Jr, predeceased her, as did one of her sons, Mark Mosher.  She is survived by her sister, Barbara Mahoney, four children, Burr J Mosher III (Heidi), Stephanie Comfort, Lisa Buckley, and Jennifer Frassica (Peter), as well as eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

Services will be private due to COVID-19. In lieu of flowers, donations to Reading is Fundamental https://www.rif.org can be made in her name.
