Joanne A. (Mellor) Burke

Joanne A. (Mellor) Burke of Reading, formerly of Somerville, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. She was 70 years of age.
Born on September 9, 1947 in Somerville, Joanne is the loving daughter of the late James Mellor and Agnes (Noonan) Mellor. Joanne is a warm and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, sister in law, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed.
Joanne was an employee for the City of Somerville for 34 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Reading for 15 years. Joanne enjoyed quilting, sewing and she loved flowers, especially those in her own flower garden. She was an avid reader of books on her Kindle. She loved sitting with her loving dog Kylie.
Joanne is the beloved wife of David W. Burke. She is the cherished mother of Jared Burke and the late David Mellor. Joanne is the loving foster mother of 12 children. She is the devoted sister of John Mellor and his wife Nancy, Ellynn Walker and her husband Al, Roberta Perry and her husband Bob, William Mellor and his wife Marylou, Claire Conlon and her husband John, Shirley Walles, Paul Mellor and his wife Laurie and the late Edward and Joseph Mellor. The dear sister in law of Peter Burke and his late wife Linda, Patricia Fillmore and her husband Dana, the late Thomas Burke and his late wife Elaine, the late James Burke and his surviving wife Mary Lee and the late John Burke and his surviving wife Kitty, Joanne is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews
Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Friday, April 27th from 4-8pm in the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden St. READING. Parking attendants available. A Funeral Service Celebrating Joanne's Life will be held on Saturday, April 28th at 11am in the First Congregational Church of Reading, 25 Woburn St. Reading.
