Joanne M. Roberts

Joanne M. Roberts of Wakefield, formerly of Stoneham passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at her home after a brief illness. She was 58 years of age.

Joanne was born on June 15, 1961 in Stoneham. She was the loving daughter of the late Francis A. Roberts and Janet A. (Marks) Roberts. Joanne was a warm and caring daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, niece and friend. She will be deeply missed.

Joanne graduated from Stoneham High School with the class of 1979. She graduated from Emmanuel College with a BA in 1983, UMASS Boston in 1995 with a BA in Human Services Advocacy and from Salem State with a MSW in 1999. Joanne loved to read and was a member of the Wakefield Library Book Club. She was a member of the Women's Guild at Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield. Joanne was a loyal and dedicated Social Worker. She belonged to the National Association of Social Workers and she was a Legislative Advocacy Committee Member. She also volunteered with the Foster Care Program for Massachusetts Department of Children and Families.

Joanne was the beloved niece of Loretta Simmons, sister of Francis Roberts Jr. and his late wife Cathy, Richard Roberts and his wife Linda, Lisa J. Costa and her husband John and the dear sister in law of the late Michelle Dignan. She is the dear aunt of Shawn, Joe, Buddy, Tommy and his wife Sarah, Maria and the great aunt of Catherine. Joanne is also survived by many loving cousins and friends.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Thursday, March 12th at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Joanne's Eternal Life in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 11am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family on Wednesday from 5-7pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
