John T. Donlan of Plymouth, formerly of Dorchester passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2003 at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. He was 85 years of age.
Born in Dorchester in 1914, John was the loving son of the late Andrew Donlan and Mary (Allen) Donlan. He was a loving and caring son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He will be missed by all.
Mr. Donlan was a retired Boston Fireman with Ladder 13. He was an aid to the Chief of the Boston Fire Department. He was a member of the American Legion Post 40 of Plymouth. He was a member of the John Alden Sportsman Club and the Retired State and Employee Association of Boston. During World War II, John proudly served our country as a private with the United States Army.
John was the beloved husband of Margaret D. (Mulhern) Donlan. He was the devoted father of John Donlan and his wife Marylou of Florida, Paul Donlan and his wife Marie, Richard Donlan and his wife Rosemary, Margaret Burns and her husband Charles all of Plymouth, Thomas Donlan of Chelmsford, Peter Donlan and his wife Maureen of Plymouth and the late Michael Donlan of Boston. John was the cherished grandfather of 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and the dear brother of Marie McLaughlin of Avon.
Funeral from the Richard Davis Funeral Home 619 State Rd. (RT 3A) MANOMET Thursday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Bonaventure Church, State Rd. Manomet at 10am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Interment Manomet Cemetery, Manomet.
