John R. Hardy

John R. Hardy of Saugus passed away peacefully on July 13, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 27, 1940 in Medford, John was raised in Somerville and later returned to Medford to raise his family. John was the son of the late Francis and Mary Hardy. John was a warm and loving son, brother, husband, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed.

John was a production foreman for Polaroid, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service and a lifetime member of the Billerica Elks and Medford Sons of Italy. He was devoted to his family and most enjoyed large family gatherings on holidays and special occasions. John's spontaneous wit and unique sense of humor were unmatched and his "sayings" continue to bring smiles and laughter to all who knew and loved him.

John was the beloved husband of Elizabeth "Betty" (Parece) Hardy and the devoted father of Elizabeth McCarthy, Kathleen Colbert and her husband Daniel, Cheryl Flannery, Deborah McCarty and her husband Paul, John Hardy, Patrick Hardy and his wife Maria, Philip Hardy, Eric Hardy and his wife Stephanie, and Christopher Hardy. He was the cherished grandfather of 26 grandchildren, and the doting great grandfather to 7 great grandchildren. John was also the loving brother of Kay Tower, Francis Hardy, the late Mary Hardy, the late Paul Hardy, and Evelyn Mattola.

A Celebration of John's Eternal Life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 10 am in St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion Street, WAKEFIELD. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name to: St. Joseph's Parish, Wakefield, MA or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
