John "Jack" W. O'Halloran

John "Jack" W. O'Halloran, of Stoneham, formerly of Charlestown, passed away on Thursday October 17, 2024. He was 68 years of age.

Jack grew up in Charlestown where he was a staple in the Boys and Girls Club gym and an accomplished athlete, even once running the Boston Marathon with no training. He remained a proud Townie even after meeting the love of his life, Jeannie, and building their life together in Stoneham. Jack met Jeannie when he was only 22 and she was 19. Throughout their 42 years of marriage, Jack and Jeannie lived their dream life, raising their two beautiful daughters and spending their summers in York Beach, Maine.

Jack joined the Boston Water and Sewer Commission as a teenager and worked his way up to management over the course of four decades. He quickly became a master of all the pipes and streets in Boston. In his spare time, Jack could be found on a field in the City of Boston refereeing high school soccer games.

As dedicated as he was as an employee and referee, Jack found the most joy in raising his two daughters, Meaghan and Bridget. No matter where they were or what they needed, Jack was a phone call away and the girls could always count on him.

Jack’s life became even more full when his daughters fell in love and started building their own families. Jack took pride in being a father-in-law to both Mason and Michael. All three spent many hours talking sports over a beer. He was grateful to finally have some guys around.

Jack found his true calling in life when he became a Popo to his three beautiful grandchildren, Mason, Madeline and Jack. You could find him at school pick-up, the dance studio, a sports field or on a bug hunt. A Popo like no other. His dedication to his family was second to none.

To know Jack was to love Jack. A true friend to all, a humble and selfless man that will be dearly missed by so many.

Jack is the beloved husband of Jean (Downs) O'Halloran. He is the devoted father of Meaghan Poce and her husband Mason and Bridget Vaughan and her husband Michael. Cherished Popo of Mason and Madeline Poce and Jack Vaughan. Son of the late Joan (Woodman) and John O'Halloran. Dear brother of Donna O'Leary and her husband Bob and Kevin O'Halloran and his wife Laurie. Brother in law of Jack and Jeff Downs. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
