North Reading, MA — John Patrick Mason, 83, devoted husband of the late Carole Ann Mason, passed away on March 8, 2026.
Born in Gardner, Massachusetts, and raised in Winchendon, Massachusetts, John graduated from Saint John’s Prep and later earned his degree from Suffolk University. He met his beloved wife, Carole, while skiing at Killington, Vermont, and together they made their home in North Reading, raising their son. John was the co-owner of Bay State Industrial in Boston, Massachusetts.
John enjoyed vacationing at the family cottage in Maine, skiing, and biking throughout New England. An avid golfer, skier, and tennis player, he was also a passionate Boston sports fan, holding Celtics season tickets throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
John cherished time with friends—often raising a glass after a day on the course or slopes, especially on his favorite holiday, Saint Patrick’s Day. He was a dedicated member of Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.
John is survived by his son, Greg Mason and his wife; his sister; nieces and nephews; cousins; and his grandchildren, Conor and Olivia Mason, whom he loved dearly.
A celebration of life service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 127 Summer St., Lynnfield, on Saturday, May 2, at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow.
